Method and sources
How our articles are produced, checked and sourced. This page is public because a reader is entitled to know how what they read was made.
Three independent sources at minimum
No technology-watch article is published on a single source. We require at least three independent sources, and the original source is always cited with an outbound link at the end of the article. A story that rests on a press release alone is not a story.
Rewriting is not translating
A fact, a figure, an announcement are not protected by copyright; the form is. We do not paraphrase a news article sentence by sentence, in any language: we start again from the facts and write our own angle. Literal quotations are short, in quotation marks, attributed, and never longer than two sentences.
An automated similarity check runs before publication. A text too close to a source is rejected and rewritten, not published with a note.
Images
We take no image from a source article. Visuals are licensed or produced by us, and always carry their credit. When a visual is not yet available, we display a drawn placeholder rather than an image we would not hold the rights to.
Corrections
A factual error is corrected in the article, and the correction is noted at the end of the text. We do not delete an article to make an error disappear. To report an error, use the “Contact us” page.
